A SENSE OF PLACE

trawling for the best sites

October 11, 2008 · Leave a Comment

I was cleaning out the spam comments that wordpress catch on your behalf (an excellent service!) and came across this one that turns out not to be spam – a nice surprise.

photography digest find what they call ‘the best content on the web’ ….  their words are:

“Here at the Digest we don’t write the blogs, we just provide a short snippet of the best content from around the web. If you see an item of interest, please visit the original blog. We help readers find new blogs and we help bloggers expand their audience.”

and there i found my piece(s) on Launceston, Princes Square !

A few photos i took exploring this site that is a part of the town i live in.

poetry that makes you smile

in a sad kinda truth way …

Church Street #25

A little drunk man

screamed several times

into the night,

I need a woman!

After a brief pause

the night

screamed back,

So do I!

Exploring more of Hallid’s blog i found more great writing … a lovely sense of humour through those sad truths that is everyday life.

“The Artist is a luxury”provides a bigger bite of words than some of the shorter, pithy ones. Nicely crafted words that create an environment filled with tension, colour and personalities (just like a painting).  I love the wrap-up.

“Church Street #23″ is hilarious …

Church Street #22 is so interesting … an exploration of words that run horizontally for a bit and then move down the page for meaning … and with each of Hallid’s pieces the punchline is very satisfying.

Church Street #22

The drunk raged at the three brats

with dragon’s breath knights on a crusade

punching

kicking

laughing

the kids traffic slowed

toyed some faces smiled

with others curtsied

him and fled

spinning him around

until he collapsed in the middle of the street.

A police van came along carried the dragon back to his cage.

In moving down his blog i notice the pictures…. so interesting … little collages filled with imagery and little stories of their own.  I shall return to explore.
